Cathy’s beautiful and unique jewelry features natural precious and semi-precious gemstones mounted into handmade settings of fine silver, sterling silver, and copper to create one-of-a-kind necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. She started Cathy’s Custom Jewelry in 2003 after leaving the work force to become a stay at home mom:  “I purchased some stones to study geography with my daughter and discovered that I liked learning about each stone and where they came from.  Then I started to make small pieces of jewelry for family and friends. At that time I was using pre-made castings.  I soon found  I wanted to be more creative with my work.  I purchased a small torch and started on my way to become a true artisan…. I get the inspiration for my pieces from the stones themselves. I select the stones to which I feel a connection. The unusual shapes, colors and natural beauty associated with each stone draws me in to encourage my senses. The stone gives me the direction to make the final piece.”

Cathy’s Custom Jewelry, and the work many other fine artisans, will be on display and available for purchase during the 49th Annual Bluemont Fair.  Some of the artisans demonstrate the process of creating their craft, which provides a fascinating learning experience, as well.
